Upcoming Appearances:

The Book That Made Me: 1st September 2016 in Bookstores!

(I sell these at cons for $15 to donate royalties to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation)

This week I had a book launch for a new anthology I’m part of from Walker Books, called “The Book That Made Me.” It’s a collection of short stories from local authors talking about the book that turned them into a writer/artist, and I talked about how my Cousin Munn got my into manga.

The book is now available in bookstores, and all royalties from it will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation! If you’re interested in charitable causes, then please take a look!

Manga + Academics: Manga Vision!

Hi all! I’ve got a bunch of announcements to make this week!

Manga + Academics: Interested in manga + academics? I have here “Manga Vision”, the cover and insides of which I illustrated, which is a collection of research papers on International manga and fan culture. Click here to buy copies, folks. It’s edited by Sarah Pasfield-Neofitoh and Cathy Sell!

Conventions: Heading to Continuum 2016 in Melbourne from the 9th-13th June, and to Supanova Sydney on the 17th-19th June!

Art Exhibitions: I’m participating in 2 art exhibitions, one at ArtSHINE gallery that is called “Celebration”, a collection of art by Sydney Comics Guild members that goes from the 25th June to 20th July, and one at Liverpool Library, which I will be attending the launch of on Monday, July 4 at 6 PM! The Liverpool library exhibition is called “Comics Creatrix”, and is a celebration of women comic artists in Australia! More on that later!

BentoNet launch: Lastly, “The BentoNet” is due for a launch this month! The soft launch is going to be officially on the 25th June, and I shall be doing a presentation at ArtSHINE gallery (3 Blackfriars St, Chippendale 2008) at 1:45pm-2:45pm about it! The system is now live and ready! More on that later!

The BentoNet Presentation @ ACAF in Canberra

I’ve been talking about “The BentoNet”, which is my online comics retail hub for Australian Comics for a while now. This weekend, I finally get to give a live demonstration at ACAF in Canberra!

The talk will be FREE, and it’s on Saturday 20th February @ 4:30pm – 5:30pm, at the Novotel Hotel in Canberra.

The BentoNet is online now and works fine (the picture above is of the main page, shrunk down from its original size so you can see more in a screen cap), but the idea of live demonstrations freak me out a bit. In case things go wrong, I’ve got the system installed on localhost on my laptop, which will be on standby. Let’s hope everything works out fine on the day, and that the Gods of Tech will be smiling on me.

Legally Comics: Apart from that, I’ll be on a panel about comics and legal issues with a group of distinguished guests (Julie Ditrich, Bruce Mutard and Jason Franks). This panel will be for professionals and amateurs alike, and we will tackle all issues relating to copyright, contracts and professional rates thereof. This panel is on Saturday 20th February @ 11:30am-12:45pm, and it’s $30, so make sure you book your tickets!

Sunday Markets: Sunday will be market day, where I’ll be shilling my books at my table. Drop by and see what I’m up to!
