“The way the sisters look alike yet subtly different, enough for the reader to tell them apart, is a testament to Chan’s art. Her drawings make the story stand out, and the cliffhanger ending comes all too soon. It’s a tough wait for the next volume, due in November, with the reader’s imagination going full throttle in the meantime.”

Review of The Dreaming at Comic Book Bin

Review by Leroy Douresseaux ›

However, drawings alone won’t make one a good cartoonist or, in this case, manga-ka. Using pictures with words on them, in sequences, Queenie knows how to establish plot, character, and setting so that her narrative moves with hardly a hitch. Creating comic art that captivates requires an ability to draw pages in which the layout, design, and contents come together to form a rhythm that in turn carries the reader on the journey of story. Queenie does that with the self-possession of a veteran.

The Dreaming: 3rd print run

Monday, 22 May 2006

The Dreaming Book 1: Is in its third print run! Scholastic has ordered 45,000 for its book club, yay!! The second print run is for 7,000 books, which unfortunately will NOT contain the paper dolls the first print run had, and which Scholastic’s run will also have. Kudos to Scholastic’s book club. It’s a pity about the paper dolls in the second print run, but I’ve decided to release them in PDF format anyway. Download the paper dolls here!

ABC TV appearance on “Sunday Arts”

Friday, 28 April 2006

ABC Interview with Me: This is a 25MB WMV file, about 6 minutes long, of my interview with ABC TV on “Sunday Arts”. You need WIndows Media Player to view it. It was originally longer, and aired on the 2nd April, but many thanks to my Dad for editting it down to a manageable size, and for leaving alot of the introduction in. I appear about 2 minutes into the interview. Many thanks to the ABC film crew too!

The Dreaming is out

Monday, 9 January 2006

Happy New Year! The Dreaming preview Chapter 4 is up on the TOKOYPOP server. My List of Australian Stores stocking The Dreaming is still up, and has more entries added. I should also add that the book sold out in Kinokuniya and Kings Comics in mid-December, and they should be re-stocking in January. Phantom Zone is also running out… though luckily they have a courier service. The book is OUT ON THE STREETS, as evidenced by this 5-star review on Amazon.
