Genre: Fantasy
Status: Suspended (2003)
Pages: 13 pages (End of Prelude)
Type: A really long story

Woah, this fantasy story has been around in my head for a long time, and has undergone many, many revamps - but that isn’t important, because none of it’s on paper yet. As things go, it will continue being revamped until it is to my satisfaction. Fantasy is actually one of my favourite genres - the rules are so flexible, and so utterly open to the imagination; that it’s a free-wheeling playground. Here is a blank canvas for me to paint haunting landscapes and grand drama on, and anything else I fancy.

… This is also probably the last work I’ll be doing in complete black and white for a long while. That’s because I’ve moved full-steam into the world of greyscale and tones - there is no going back, not least because of readers’ tastes. However, there is beauty in plain cross-hatching, and as I was drawing this series, I realise how much I miss the days when mood can be established just as well in black and white as it is in tones. At least if I want to go b&w again in the future, I’ll always have this to draw on. For nostalgia’s sake, I intend to draw all flashbacks in this story in b&w.

First things first, I only have the “prelude” planned out, which is about 12 pages. The prelude relates things that happen before the main story, and while not many things seem to happen in it, the consequences for the main story is great. All in all, I put it here because this is intended to be mainly a mood piece - if this is successful, it’ll probably set the tone for the rest of the series. Now let’s see if I can bloody finish it to pave way for Chapter 1.

This reads in the western way, from left to right.
