Twinside
Genre: Teen Romantic Comedy
Status: Discontinued (2004)
Pages: 13 pages
Type: Pitch to TOKYOPOP
“TwinSide” was a submission for a 3-volume deal to TokyoPop in April, which was unfortunately rejected - but at least some good came out of that deal. This was pitched as a “high-school romantic comedy” (set in Australia), but in actually was meant more as a satire than a straight-forward cutesy-wootsy, angst-ridden romance (maybe I should have mentioned that in my submission). I think people familiar with the other stories on my page would be aware I’m not particularly enamored of the idea of mushy, angsty teen-romance, but never mind. “TwinSide” gets to inhabit the bottom of the drawer now, along with “A Chinese Ghost Story” while I work on something I deem more important.
If you’ve read “Twins”, you may well recognise these (formerly) diet-mad baseballers. This time they play netball, and the twins also look less identical than they did in the earlier 30-page story. For those who have no clue, netball is a game that vaguely resembles basketball; played almost exclusively in Commonwealth countries like Australia and England. There are also alot of Aussie references in these pages, which can mostly be figured out from context. And yep, that’s aboriginal artwork you see in the background.
Since “TwinSide” was an English submission, it reads from left to right.
